First visit: What to expect
Your initial visit is a crucial time for us to understand your dental history and goals. This personal interaction lays the foundation for a tailored and attentive dental experience.
During your first visit:
- NThe dentist personally conducts the exam and interview, not an assistant or hygienist.
- NWe utilize digital intraoral and extraoral x-rays, and conduct CT scans when necessary.
- NA comprehensive head and neck exam, oral cancer screening, and full periodontal charting are performed.
- NWe'll review all findings with you and, together, craft a personalized treatment plan that fits your specific needs.
- NYou’ll be informed about the nature of your next appointment, whether it involves cleaning, specific treatments, or a follow-up.
- NYou'll leave with a detailed treatment plan, clearly outlining the next steps in your dental care.

Frequently Asked Questions
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Bring a list of medications you take, dental insurance information, and any questions or concerns you may have.
How much does the first appointment cost?
Costs vary based on the services provided. We’ll discuss fees before your visit, and our team can assist with insurance billing and payment options.
When should my kids start seeing a dentist?
The American Dental Association recommends children begin seeing the dentist by age 1 or as soon as they get their first tooth. We love seeing children and they are always welcome in our office.
How often should adults visit the dentist?
Regular dental visits allow for early detection of any problems before they become big problems! We make recommendations personalized to each patient and based on current guidelines. This means that for some patients we need to see you more often than others, but you need to do so as directed by a dentist. If it’s been a while, don’t worry! We will help you get back on track.
What makes Plainview West Texas Dental Associates different?
Have you ever felt like you’re just being treated like everyone else that walks through the door and your doctor isn’t really listening to you? We have too, and we don’t do that here. We spend time getting to know our patients, because we believe that contributes to better healthcare outcomes. We invest in advanced technology and education, and are confident that we can provide the best care.
